Family Planning Association of Montreal
The founding group, initially composed of sixteen individuals, met on May 19, 1964 to discuss the formation of a family planning organization. This bilingual organization was lead by Rabbi H.L. Poller as president, and by two vice-presidents: Mrs. Parizeau and Dr. Anne Batshaw. In 1967, the Family Planning Association of Montreal became a member of the Family Planning Federation of Canada. One of the main objectives of The Family Planning Association of Montreal was to fight for abortion rights. During this time, the organization had formed links with social agencies in the area and put together a Symposium on Family Planning, which took place in January 1967 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in downtown Montreal. Throughout the years, the organization offered school visits, trainings, programs, and other services related to family planning
